WASHINGTON — U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.) introduced the Rural Outdoor Investment Act to promote economic growth in rural communities by investing in outdoor recreation infrastructure, planning, and business development. Bennet has urged the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee to consider this legislation.

WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) discussed the importance of reauthorizing the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) in an impassioned speech about the fentanyl crisis. During the Oversight hearing, the Congresswoman argued that ONDCP reauthorization should be a bipartisan effort to improve the efficacy of federal programs, reduce addiction, and save lives.

WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) attended a Transportation and Infrastructure Roundtable to discuss the importance of prioritizing science-backed solutions in guaranteeing access to clean drinking water, highlighting the US Supreme Court’s failure to protect our nation's communities by ignoring the science of hydrology in their Sackett vs. EPA ruling. The Congresswoman drew on her background as a water scientist to explain the science behind why the ruling will negatively impact communities' access to clean water.

WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) spoke out against the Energy Opportunities for All Act (H.R. 4374). The proposed legislation would nullify Public Land Order No. 7923, which imposes a mineral withdrawal on public lands surrounding the Chaco Culture National Historical Park for a period of 20 years.
