Reps. Stansbury, Ciscomani Introduce Bipartisan Bill Promoting Accessibility on Federal Lands
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representatives Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.-01) and Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ-06) introduced the bipartisan Promoting Accessibility on Federal Lands Act. This legislation would be a historic first step to make public lands more accessible to those with disabilities. This bill directs the United States Forest Service to conduct a comprehensive assessment of accessibility options for trails, campsites, and facilities.
“In Congress, I’m fighting to ensure our public lands are accessible to everyone, regardless of financial or physical ability,” said Rep. Stansbury. “This legislation has support across this nation and across the aisle. I’m proud to join forces with my colleague, Rep. Ciscomani, to make the great outdoors accessible to all, regardless of physical limitations.”
"Arizona is home to some of our country’s most beautiful and treasured trails, parks and monuments, bringing visitors from all over to our state,” Rep. Ciscomani. “I’m proud to join Rep. Stansbury on this legislation to promote accessibility to these cherished destinations for everyone.”
The legislation is cosponsored by Reps. Crockett, Holmes Norton, and Peltola.
The legislation is supported by REI, Vet Voice, Hispanics Enjoying Camping, and Hunting and the Outdoors (HECHO).
