VIDEO: Rep. Stansbury Press Call on Updates in Congress
ALBUQUERQUE — Today, Rep. Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) held a virtual press call giving updates on what is happening in Washington D.C., the upcoming Trump Administration, and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“Donald Trump spent months trying to distance himself from Project 2025,” said Rep. Stansbury (N.M.-01). “It was clear all along it was their intention to use that as part of their planning, and that is really what that document was, as well as the large database that they’ve been using through Project 2025. In fact, they announced that over 1,000 political appointees have already been identified primarily using the Project 2025 database.”
“If [the GOP] were actually concerned about violence against women in the United States, why did they vote against the most comprehensive and important tools that exist in our communities to help combat violence against women,” said Rep. Stansbury (N.M.-01). “What these bills are actually about are about trying to use legislation to create a political moment that they can run campaign ads [on]. The names of these bills are intended to be controversial and intended to be the kind of anti-immigrant rhetoric that they ran on during this election.”
