Stansbury Votes to Keep Government Open, Calls on Senate to Pass Long-Term Budget
Rep. Stansbury previously secured $10 million in Community Funded Projects for NM-01 in the House that would pass under a long-term budget deal.
WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) released the following statement after voting to keep the U.S. federal government open at its current levels until March 11:
“Today, I took a critical vote to keep the government open and running so that New Mexicans can access critical services while Congress negotiates a long-term budget deal. With over 33,000 New Mexicans employed in federal jobs and millions of dollars in federal programs that put food on the table and pay the bills, keeping the federal government open is absolutely vital to our communities’ well-being. Now that we have passed this continuing resolution, the Senate must pass the president’s budget.”
“As someone who grew up in Albuquerque in a working family and worked on community issues my entire career, I know how vital proposed investments in community well-being in this budget are for our communities, in addition to the $10 million dollars in community projects we’ve secured for our district. We must pass a budget bill in March to make these vital investments.”
The Further Additional Extending Government Funding Act will extend government funding until March 11, 2022.
