Rep. Stansbury's Statement on Bureau of Land Management's Public Lands Rule
WASHINGTON—Today, Rep. Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) issued the following statement after the Bureau of Land Management announced its final Public Lands Rule:
"Thank you President Biden and New Mexico’s very own Secretary Haaland for their continued commitment to protecting public lands, cultural sites, wildlife, access to the outdoors, and our environment—especially today as the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) finalizes their Public Lands Rule.
"This is an historic step to put these conservation uses on par with extractive uses across the West. This administration knows well that that our public lands are part of the solution to the climate crisis and BLM, as our largest land management agency overseeing nearly 250 million acres throughout the country, is uniquely positioned to implement their bold and balanced vision.
"I stand with the Bureau, and the entire Biden Administration, as it takes huge strides in protecting and preserving our lands, water, and cultural sites."
