Rep. Stansbury Releases Statement on Labor Day

ALBUQUERQUE—U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) released the following statement on Labor Day: 

"Hard-working families and the unions that support them are the backbone of America. I am proud to be the daughter of a union family and to stand with workers everywhere across the country. Fighting for and protecting workers’ rights has been core to my work in the State Legislature and in Congress," said Rep. Melanie Stansbury (NM-01). "Today, on Labor Day, I celebrate our working people and the unions that serve and protect them—from our firefighters to the construction trades, teachers, and countless others. I stand in solidarity in the fight to protect workers' rights, fair pay, safe workplaces, and meaningful opportunities. That is what the American dream is all about."

During her time in Congress, Rep. Stansbury has voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which are creating thousands of good-paying, union jobs across New Mexico.  

She introduced the Rail Worker and Community Safety Act, which would make much-needed improvements to federal rail safety regulations. 

Recently, the Congresswoman sent letters in support of union workers to the National Labor Relations Board and the National Mediation Board. 

She is also a co-sponsor of theRichard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize Act of 2023, the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act, theFamily Medical Leave Modernization Act, a resolution to designate Journeyman Lineworkers Recognition Day, and the Raise the Wage Act of 2021
