Cabinet nominees dangerously unqualified, ready to push Project 2025 agenda

ST. LOUIS, MO — Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) continued sounding the alarm on the dangerous ramifications of Trump’s leadership picks during a press call on Friday.

She made this clear in a committee hearing on Wednesday while fighting against Republican’s attempts to dismantle DEI initiatives in the federal workforce and to fire thousands of dedicated, qualified civil servants.

“I will continue to hold my Republican colleagues accountable and fight back … There is a deeper agenda going on here,” said Rep. Melanie Stansbury (NM-01). “Trump’s purge is a clear effort to normalize a white nationalist agenda and pass statutory language that will rewrite the checks and balances of our executive [branch].

“This is not what the American people voted for. The American people elected us to advance this country. The American people care about their families and the health of their children—and did not want elected officials putting their needs before everyone else.

“We are facing a dark time in the grand arch of American democracy. Trump is nominating a whole cast of characters who are blatantly unqualified, dangerous, and who know absolutely nothing about the agencies they are about to take over. These nominations will determine the progress of this country.”

She also spoke on the upcoming district work period and what can be done at the federal level to safeguard New Mexicans from the incoming Trump administration.
