Rep. Stansbury Holds Town Hall Listening Session to Mark Just Over One Year of Accomplishments for New Mexico
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—On the heels of passing the biggest climate action investment in world history and reducing health care premiums for all New Mexicans, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) convened an in-person town hall at the County Commission Chambers to hear from New Mexicans about their thoughts, concerns, and priorities.
During the town hall listening session, Rep. Stansbury outlined her legislative work on behalf of New Mexicans after her vote to pass the Inflation Reduction Act and barely one month after passing four of her bills out of the House of Representatives on water security and STEM economic growth. Rep. Stansbury also solicited feedback on her legislative work and answered questions from around 30 constituents who attended, who spoke about issues including water and drought, rent and affordable housing, and action to address climate change.
“Hearing from New Mexicans about their concerns, hopes, and dreams helps guide my work in Congress and in our communities,” said Rep. Stansbury. “Over the past year, it’s been the honor of a lifetime to fight to deliver key funding for New Mexico communities and pass historic legislation like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act to build a more just, equitable, and sustainable future for New Mexicans.”
Over the past year, Rep. Stansbury has:
Legislated for New Mexico
Secured over $10 million for public safety, economic development, and youth programs on her first day in office.
Secured over $18 million to get fentanyl off the streets, invest in economic development, housing, and initiatives to address veterans’ homelessness out of the House of Representatives.

Cosponsored over 300 pieces of legislation on New Mexico’s priorities including health care access, public safety, climate action, economic development, veterans affairs, good government, and community well-being.
