ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.Rep. Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) is excited to announce the winners of the 11th Annual Congressional App Challenge. They are Laszlo Zolyomi of Davidson Academy Online High School and Sean Choi of Stanford Online High School.

“I am incredibly proud of our young innovators who are not only excelling academically, but also contributing positively to our community,” said Rep. Melanie Stansbury (NM-01). “The ‘Habit Hobbit’ app is designed with a simple yet powerful purpose—to help users create healthier habits through timely reminders while they work on their computers.”

This year’s winner, Habit Hobbit, is a web app/extension that allows users to send themselves repeating notifications on their computer. The purpose is to create healthier habits, like drinking more water or taking time away from the screen.

“I commend these talented students not only for their technical skills but also for their commitment to promoting wellness in our digital age. Their work exemplifies the spirit of innovation that we cherish in New Mexico and across our nation. Congratulations to Laszlo and Sean, our winners of the Congressional App Challenge! Your hard work and ingenuity inspire us all.”

The Congressional App Challenge is an official initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives, where Members of Congress host contests in their districts for middle school and high school students, encouraging them to learn to code and inspiring them to pursue careers in computer science.

Each participating Member of Congress selects a winning app from their district, and each winning team is invited to showcase their winning app to Congress during our annual House of Code festival in Washington, D.C.
