Rep. Stansbury Calls for Passage of the FY23 Budget as She Votes to Prevent a Government Shutdown

December 14, 2022

Rep. Stansbury continues fight for N.M. projects that would pass under a long-term budget deal.

WASHINGTON – Tonight, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) released the following statement after voting to pass a Continuing Resolution. The resolution will keep the U.S. federal government open until December 23, 2022 as budget negotiations continue:

“Tonight, we voted for a Continuing Resolution to keep the federal government operational in the coming days as we continue to fight for and negotiate budget that funds our communities’ priorities. That means passing a comprehensive budget for Fiscal Year 2023 that invests in the well-being of our communities and which delivers the $18 million in funding for community projects we helped secure for New Mexico. These projects are critical to help get fentanyl off the streets, improve public safety, address housing and homelessness, invest in behavioral health, and support economic development. We are working hard to make sure Congress makes good on its responsibility to fund these programs and get these dollars out the door.”

The Continuing Resolution will keep the federal government open at current funding levels until Thursday, December 23, 2022.
