Rep. Stansbury met with Tijeras and Estancia Mayors on her second cross-district tour to discuss infrastructure projects

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Today, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) joined Tijeras Mayor Jake Bruton and Estancia Mayor Nathan Dial on a cross-district tour to highlight the historic water infrastructure investments coming to New Mexico from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

“Our local officials are on the ground implementing the critical funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which is why I met with Mayor Bruton and Mayor Nial about their priorities during our second district-wide infrastructure tour,” said Rep. Stansbury.“From updating our water systems for a climate-resilient future to flood plain mitigation funding, I am proud that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will help deliver the crucial resources our communities need to thrive.”

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Rep. Stansbury voted to pass last fall, is delivering more than $3.7 billion in funding to invest in water, transportation, broadband, and energy infrastructure to create jobs and lower costs for New Mexicans. The legislation also includes provisions to mitigate the effects of climate change and build climate resilience across New Mexico communities.

In Tijeras, Rep. Stansbury met with Mayor Bruton to discuss the municipal sewer system and the ways the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will support water system improvements.

In Estancia, Rep. Stansbury and Mayor Dial discussed some of the most frequently heard concerns of New Mexico’s rural communities, including funding for flood mitigation protection and road infrastructure.
