Congresswoman Stansbury’s Statement on the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Today, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) released the following statement addressing Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine:

“I stand in full solidarity with the Ukrainian government and people in defending their sovereignty and democratic rights, and with our NATO allies in calling for an immediate end to the Russian invasion and attack of Ukrainian territory.

“This unprovoked and unilateral invasion by the Russian government is a violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and international law that threatens global peace and security and endangers the lives of millions of Ukrainian people.

“I join my colleagues and our allies in condemning Russia’s actions and calling for a swift and unified global response that advances peace through diplomatic and economic solutions.

“The United States is prepared to meet this moment with our Ukrainian and NATO allies and partners across the globe to deescalate this conflict, defend international norms, and protect the rights and safety of the people living in Ukraine. We stand resolute in our commitment to peace, and ready to help anyone in need.”
