Congresswoman Stansbury’s Statement on Foothills Shooting

ALBUQUERQUE—U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) released the following statement after four Albuquerque Police Department officers were shot and wounded in the line of duty, with one officer in critical condition:

“My thoughts are with the four Albuquerque Police Department officers and their families after they were shot, and one critically injured in the line of duty, not far from my own neighborhood. I am grateful for the quick and coordinated response by law enforcement across the metro area to arrest the perpetrators and prioritize our communities’ safety.

“Over the last week, our community has been shaken by gun violence. We must take action now to address this epidemic and ensure our communities are safe. That’s my commitment in Congress, and why I fought for funding for a Trauma Recovery Center on my first day in office.”
