Congresswoman Stansbury Recognizes the 20th Anniversary of 9/11
ALBUQUERQUE—Today, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) released the following statement recognizing the 20th anniversary of 9/11:
“Twenty years ago today, we lost 2,977 individuals to the devastation of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. As we continue to remember and mourn these losses, we also honor the first responders and others who risked their lives to save others. We owe them a debt of gratitude—and must continue to demonstrate that gratitude by ensuring our first responders have access to quality care and compensation.
“The echoes of 9/11 continue to reverberate through our communities today, and we must beat back the fears that seek to divide us. As our longest war has come to a close, we honor the memory of those lost, those who helped saved lives, and those who have served our country. And, we welcome our Afghan allies who now find themselves in New Mexico and across the nation. Our diversity is our strength, and our responsibility to honor our national memory is our sacred duty.”
