Congresswoman Stansbury Marks Earth Day by Previewing Month of Action on Climate, Water, and Food Security

April 22, 2022

Rep. Stansbury will release critical legislation to address climate, water, and food security across New Mexico and the nation

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—As communities across New Mexico, the country, and the world mark Earth Day with calls for climate action, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) released the following statement:

“Earth Day is a call action to protect the planet and our communities. As we face the impacts of climate change, drought, and impacts to the ecosystems and ways of life of our communities, we are doubling down on our commitment to take climate action now. That’s why we are working to introduce game-changing legislation on climate and water, including legislation to protect the waters of the life-giving Rio Grande, enable our communities to access the best science and data to manage water, and transform the way we serve our communities in addressing their water needs.

“We must be bold in our policymaking. We must follow the science. And we must do all of this by acting with the urgency that this moment demands.”
