Congresswoman Stansbury Hosts Health Care, Infrastructure Telephone Town Hall
Rep. Stansbury heard from constituents about the challenges they face accessing care and her office’s work to expand telehealth services and support health care providers.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Last night, U.S Rep. Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) held a telephone town hall with constituents to discuss health care legislation and the historic investments in New Mexico’s telehealth infrastructure from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
During the community discussion, Rep. Stansbury highlighted the need for investments in affordable, high-quality health care access in New Mexico’s health care system, particularly for rural communities across the state. Over 7,800 New Mexicans tuned into the town hall.
Rep. Stansbury discussed the importance of passing the Build Back Better Act to lower the price of prescription drugs. Rep. Stansbury also highlighted a bill she cosponsors that expands funding for behavioral health and substance use recovery services for state, local, and Tribal governments, the CARE Act. Rep. Stansbury also highlighted the critical funding for high-speed broadband for telehealth medical services made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
“It is always wonderful to hear from New Mexicans across our communities and to talk about the issues that matter most to all of you—from health care and community well-being to the economy and jobs, broadband and water—it was great to sit down and discuss our work serving New Mexico tonight,” said Rep. Stansbury. “As we are working to craft and pass meaningful legislation in our nation's capital, we are also focused on serving our communities at home. Our team is here to serve, and we look forward to hearing from and helping our communities in any way we can.”
Rep. Stansbury heard directly from community members who shared their concerns, questions, and priorities for health care and infrastructure investments during the telephone town hall discussion.
