Congresswoman Stansbury Announces 2022 Congressional Art Competition
High school students across the district are encouraged to apply through Rep. Stansbury’s website.
WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) announced that her office is accepting virtual submissions for the 2022 Congressional Art Competition, an opportunity for students across New Mexico’s First Congressional District to submit their artwork for a chance to be featured in the halls of the U.S. Capitol.
The competition, launched in 1982 to recognize and encourage the artistic talent of students across the country, has received more than 650,000 submissions. The deadline to submit artwork to Rep. Stansbury’s office is April 22 at midnight. The theme for submissions to Rep. Stansbury’s office is “(Re)Imaging New Mexico’s Future”.
“I am excited to announce that the annual Congressional Art Competition is reopening to talented young artists across our district,” said Rep. Stansbury. “New Mexico is full of talented young artists, and I’m proud that visitors to the U.S. Capitol can view our students’ creativity firsthand. I’m looking forward to viewing the incredible artwork from students across our district as we begin to receive submissions.”
The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide high school arts competition held each spring, sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The winning artwork of each participating district’s competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The winning artwork is also featured on House.gov’s Congressional Art Competition page.
