Congresswoman Stansbury, AARP NM Host Virtual Town Hall

January 27, 2022

Rep. Stansbury discussed the economic impacts of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and gave an update on the Build Back Better Act

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Last night, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) and AARP New Mexico held a virtual town hall meeting with New Mexicans to discuss the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s $3.7 billion investments in New Mexico communities and provide an update on the future of prescription drug price reductions in the Build Back Better Act.

Rep. Stansbury detailed how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will create thousands of blue-collar jobs for New Mexicans to install and expand affordable broadband access, repair the state’s roads and bridges, and upgrade critical infrastructure for climate resilience. Rep. Stansbury also discussed investments in the Build Back Better Act, which she voted to pass in the House of Representatives in November. The Build Back Better Act’s investments would lower the cost of prescription drugs, mitigate the effects of climate change, provide paid sick and family leave for workers across the country, and make other critical investments in communities across New Mexico.

“Connecting with constituents in real time helps me do the best job I can for New Mexicans,” said Rep. Stansbury. “I want to thank AARP New Mexico for convening such an important discussion with our communities to share news about the transformative investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and the crucial programs in the Build Back Better Act. It was an honor to hear directly from New Mexicans about their concerns, hopes, and dreams.”

Over 3,000 New Mexicans joined Rep. Stansbury and AARP New Mexico for the town hall. A full recording of the event is available here.
