  • Additionally, the FEMA Public Assistance Program provides supplemental grant assistance for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and the restoration and mitigation of disaster-damaged facilities.
  • The FEMA Helpline (1-800-621-3362 / TTY (800) 462-7585) may be able to provide additional referrals.

FEMA Public Assistance Program Application Process

  • FEMA Public Assistance Applicants are SLTT government entities and PNPs that apply for Public Assistance by submitting a Request for Public Assistance via FEMA’s Public Assistance Grants Portal (https://grantee.fema.gov).
  • FEMA accepts Requests for Public Assistance up to 30 days from the date the area(county, parish, city, municipality, etc.) was designated in the declaration. After FEMA approves the Request for Public Assistance, the Applicant receives notification of approval and instructions on how to request funding for its incident-related impacts.

Facility Eligibility

In general, SLTT government Applicants may receive Public Assistance grant funding for facilities that the Applicant owns or has legal responsibility for maintaining. PNP Applicants may receive funding for facilities that provide educational, utility, emergency, medical, or custodial care, including for senior citizens or individuals with disabilities, and other essential social-type services to the public.

Work Eligibility

  • At a minimum, work must meet each of the following three general criteria to be eligible:
  • Be required as a result of the declared incident.
  • Be located within the designated area; and  
  • Be the legal responsibility of an eligible Applicant

Please have any personal information with addresses of where the person was last seen and any photos of the person. 
 
Red Cross Services: If you need access to medical services and supplies, you can register at any of the following Red Cross supported/managed sites:
  • Eastern New Mexico University – Roswell
  • Lincoln County Fairgrounds
  • Capitan High School
  • Mescalero Apache Community Center

Presbyterian: Patients and members who have been impacted by the fire and need help with medications or other concerns - call customer service at 1-844-505-PRES (7737).

 

Unemployment Resources

 

Disaster Unemployment Assistance: A federal program providing financial assistance to jobless workers and the self-employed when they are unemployed as a direct result of a major natural disaster.  

  • A major disaster is defined as a: hurricane, tornado, storm, flood, high water, wind-driven water or tidal wave, earthquake, drought, fire or other catastrophe declared by the President.

New Mexico Workforce Development: The department is waiting for Federal approval and guidance to start taking Disaster Unemployment claims. You may apply for Standard Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits currently.
