Rep. Stansbury’s Statement on Trump’s FBI Pick Kash Patel

ALBUQUERQUE — U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (NM-01), member of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, released the following statement on President-Elect Trump’s FBI Director Pick, Kash Patel:

“The announcement that Trump will nominate Kash Patel to serve as Director of the FBI continues a deeply disturbing and dangerous trend by the President-Elect of nominating unqualified political loyalists to positions that will test the balance of power in this country,” said Rep Melanie Stansbury (NM - 01). “If confirmed, Patel has made it clear that he will come after Trump’s “enemies” and prosecute them. He will also assist Trump in evading legal and constitutional accountability and test the limits of Presidential power. Even former Trump appointees have pointed to the dangers of Patel’s appointment with Bill Barr and Gina Haspel refusing to work with Patel during his last presidency. This man is dangerous and must not be confirmed as Director of the FBI.”
